Abstract
This paper describes some of the characteristics of a new cyanide free alloy zincate process for the pretreatment of aluminium for electroplating. The alloy composition and morphology of the deposit from the new process is compared to that obtained from a cyanide containing process and another commercially available process based on the same metals. Adhesion data and comparative data on dra gout are presented for these processes. Alternative nitrate and fluoride free pretreatments are also described.
