Die «Missionsgesellschaften apostolischen Lebens» (MISAL): Interkulturelle und interreligiöse Praxis
The article deals with the «Exclusively Missionary Societies of Apostolic Life» (MISAL) and their intercultural and interreligious committment. The author attended as superior general of the «Bethlehem Mission Society» (Immensee, Switzerland) at the meetings of the union of these Catholic mission societies from 1993 to 2003. He gives some informations about the member societies and presents the international and european meetings. He then analyses the themes dealt with at these meetings and shows the shift occurring in their dynamics due to the participation of the superiors of the mission societies from Latin America, Africa and Asia. Intercultural and interreligious committment does not appear any more as an aspect of missionary work only but becomes a central dimension of the meetings of the superior generals itself, as some of these leaders live in countries with small Christian minorities and where members of the mission societies come from mixed religious and cultural background. In this context, European and North American missiological scholarship seems to loose its weight, while mission as a movement into all directions outlines a new reality of the Church.
